Fourth of July Celebration
The Fourth of July is a special time in Pauls Valley as the Pauls Valley Kiwanis Club hosts the annual Fourth of July celebration each year at Thompson Field in Wacker Park. The celebration is complete with tasty hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks. There is also live entertainment and the largest manually lit fireworks display between Oklahoma City and Dallas.
Watermelon Seed Spitting
Pauls Valley celebrates each 4th of July with a watermelon seed-spitting contest. Held in conjunction with the City’s 4th of July fireworks show, this contest has been a Pauls Valley tradition for over 50 years. Since 1957, when the contest began, the Watermelon Seed Spittin’ World Chanpionship has been featured in the Guinness Book of Records and Rilpey’s Believe it or Not. Each year participants attempt to break the record of Jack Dietz of Chicage, who launched a seed 66 feet 11 inches in 1989.
**THE 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION WILL BE ON TUESDAY JULY 4, 2017**
Festivities will begin at 6:00 pm in Wacker Park
