Pauls Valley Rotary Club's hosts Second Annual Greater Garvin County Car Cruise

The Rotary Club of Pauls Valley has announced that it will host the Second Annual Greater Garvin County Car Cruise ÒTHUNDER IN THE STREETSÓ in Garvin County on Saturday, October 9, 2010.

Last yearÕs Inaugural Greater Garvin County Car Cruise format will be transformed from a car cruise into a Car Show and Poker Run to benefit Rotary Service Projects. Participants will not only be displaying their vehicles in designated areas around town, but will be driving their cars to specific pre-establish Poker Run stops where they will collect proof of visit tokens and will then return to their staging area to draw cards for a Seven Card Stud Poker Hand.

Registration and judging begins at 9:00 AM, Poker Run from 11:00 Am to 1:00 PM, and Car Show portion of the event will begin at 1:00 pm and end at 3:00 pm. Trophies will be awarded for the best vehicles in a number of different classes at an awards presentation and Cruise Car drawng in the parking lot at Covercraft Industries at 3:00 PM.

The event is being designed as a Rotary Benefit fundraiser, which will not only provide for the many programs supported by the Rotary Club, but is open to any non-profit organization in the area. Sponsors have donated a 2003 Ford Mustang GT Convertible which was unveiled at BrickFest, in Pauls Valley on May 1, 2010, with chances available for $ 2.00 each, and which will be awarded by drawing on the day of the event. The 2010 event has been expanded to six classes to include Motorcycles and will henceforth be held on the second Saturday in October.

CLASSES: Street Rods, Muscle Cars, Antiques, Sports Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles

1ST, 2ND, 3RD Place TROPHIES IN ALL CLASSES PLUS ÒBest In ShowÓ Trophy AND Poker Run Prizes to the best hands.

Organizers of the Greater Garvin County Car Cruise expect much greater attendance for its second event than achieved at the Inaugural event which was hampered by extremely unseasonable weather. Interest by local car enthusiasts and car clubs is already growing throughout the Oklahoma and Northern Texas region.

ÒThis is a real opportunity for us to show off the wonderful sights and friendly atmosphere of Pauls Valley and Garvin County,Ó states former Rotary Club President Lora Scoggins Òwhile raising needed funds for many very worthy charities and causesÓ. Organizers are also hoping that the Car Show and Poker Run will bring about the same kind of economic impact for the local businesses that the Hot Rod Power Tour brought when it passed through Pauls Valley in 2004. Attendees are expected to arrive in Pauls Valley throughout the weekend for the Saturday afternoon event.
